Local Businessman and Coach Dave Castle Donates to Provide UNITY Football Uniforms

As a coach and mentor, Dave Castle has dedicated his life to providing a positive role model to kids in a variety of ways for more than 30 years. UNITY is the latest recipient of Dave’s generous spirit as the recipient of an incredibly generous donation of 90 football uniforms. Together with his company, Sunrise Solar, this donation means UNITY can provide more scholarships to kids in need. 

A graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Dave played on the 1984 and 1985 Men’s Division I National Championship teams. After college, he coached for 15 years as offensive coordinator on Long Island at the Stony Brook School. During that time, the program went from a new program to Suffolk County champions in 1994 and 195.  He has coached more than 40 players who have gone on to play at Division I and  III college programs. Collectively, those players won nine Division I National Championships at Princeton, Virginia, and Syracuse, and Division III at Salisbury & Nazareth, one was a two-time college Division I All-America player and Long Island Lacrosse Hall of Fame member. 

Dave first came to Annapolis prior to 2001 as a coach in the Navy Lacrosse camp for many summers. He later moved in 2001 to be the principal of Annapolis Area Christian School where he served for seven years helping the school transition to a 62 acre campus in Severn Run/Gambrills area. During that time, AACS became a member in the MIAA and IAAM conferences for boys and girls teams, winning several championships. He also started the high school football program which people laughed at when he first suggested it.

Dave is married to Stacy, his high school sweetheart for 37 years. They raised four children and now have two grandchildren with one on the way. He loves church, family, work, reading theology, volunteering in the county jails, playing golf, and Friday night dates with Stacy.
