Our program’s mission and long-term vision is to promote physical and mental development, assist in building leadership skills and teamwork, develop socially through cooperation, competition and appropriate standards of behavior, set an example of good behavior and sportsmanship at all times (whether in uniform or not) and promote the development of lifelong values and skills. But in addition to all of these goals, we want every participant to have fun and grow individually.

Our goal is to build a fun and structured cheerleading and poms program. The objective is to have every participant enjoy the sport and to build positive attitudes toward themselves and others.  Each coach understands that every child is different and has varied abilities and skills, which makes every participant unique and we will work with each one to accentuate their talents. This is the basis of our program and will help us become more successful each year. Our goals also include:

  1. To promote physical fitness for all participants.

  2. To provide community service opportunities to each participant and help them understand the importance of giving back to their community.

  3. To provide cultural experiences for participants through travel and meeting new people.

  4. To foster positive self-concept.

  5. To develop a wholesome competitive spirit in participants.

  6. To assist participants in learning good sportsmanship.

Being a part of the Unity Cheer and Poms program is a truly rewarding experience for the child and parent. We strive to teach each participant how to work well with many different types of people and build lifelong relationships, find their inner strength and gain perspective about their abilities. They will learn to accept honor and defeat with grace and humility. This is a family commitment that involves physical, emotional and mental support. This will help our children as they grow into well-rounded adults.

School is a PRIORITY and schoolwork should come first. Our program is built on strong bodies as well as strong minds. Grades are reviewed each quarter and tutoring is made available to anyone who is having problems.  Cheerleading/Poms is a privilege and we stress this to our squads constantly.  Grades also determine whether a participant will be invited to continue on from Intramural season to Competition Season for cheerleading.

The Cheer/Poms program at Unity has several components:

Our program works to teach each participant about the sport, provides them with healthy exercise to help keep them well and strong and to promote positive and healthy lifestyle.

Our program operates based on sponsorship, fundraising and contributions. We offer so much to our participants and it is because of contributions and fundraising. We are always looking for businesses, corporations, sponsors to assist in our mission to provide children with healthy, safe options to learn more about fitness, self esteem, teamwork and community.
